Physics of the Body Test

So I just got my first test back from my Physics of the Body class. It was a take home, but don't think that makes it any easier. It put together everything we had learned this semester and then asked for an explanation of an application. The test was over how electricity is used by the body and its application to EKGs, sound and its application to ultrasound imaging, and the rendering of a couple sound equations. It was some what fun, just because I really enjoyed these sections, but it was challenging. Thankfully I have come to the point in my education that what I learn in one class is often applicable to another. I was able to pull from my Health Psychology, Exercise Physiology, and Conditioning classes to complete my test. I know Dr. Donaldson likes when we are able to pull in information like that too. In the end I was pleased with my grade as were I think most students.

Medical Physics Program

I am a junior here at Rockhurst and I must say that my favorite classes have been in the Medical Physics program. This is a brand new track within the physics department that not only teaches you the fundamentals of how the body works, but also gives students an opportunity to do some individual research. Right now I am in Physics of the Body II, which is the class with the research focus, and am loving it. So far no one has been able to start their research because we are waiting for IRB approval to go through. It has been a long and thoughtful process, but in the end I think this will have been one of my best experiences at Rockhurst.
